Now I understand

I like to be informed about stuff I want to be informed about. When I do a “search” on the web, I want information NOW! Some blogs are interesting to read, some are dull and dry, and loooooooong.

I have been slowly working on building this blog. Not for any reason other than I feel the need to have a voice and this is my chosen forum. It’s not like I really have that much interesting stuff to talk about. I’m kinda boring in real life with the world in its current pandemic.

So a couple weeks ago I decided to utilize Googles Analytics page to see how I’m doing. It’s not good. LOL I write really short posts most of the time. It doesn’t take that long to read at all. And that is what is killing my analytics.

One choice is to start writing really long posts and that will help my analytics…. and annoy other people like me. Oh yeah, and put in an advertisement after every paragraph. I’m sure that will please my readers. And the two side menus with another 45 ads in it of stuff that you don’t want or you searched for ONCE and now you see it in every ad that pops up. UGH!

This is what I understand. People want you to stay on their page. It’s good for their bounce rate. You want a low bounce rate because it means people were engaged and stayed on your site for a while. Well that’s great for someone new to the site who is awed by my amazing writing style and eager to read each utterance I’ve made. But those who have been with me, pop in, read, and dart…. cuz they’ve already gotten hooked on my writing style and I can only produce so much at a time. LOL

Currently, my bounce rate is 80%. That would be horrific if you were trying to sell your site to someone. But I laugh. I don’t want to take up your whole day with my blathering. I appreciate the one or two minutes you take out of your day to read my thoughts or drop a comment. (Rarely ever get comments or feedback or even anyone taking the polls.)

So I say to you, HAVE A GREAT DAY and look for the silver linings. ♥
