Yeah, I like donations. Free money, right? I also don’t mind working for a paycheck. However, I lost my job this week. It wasn’t my fault!!! Doesn’t everyone say that? I will take 2.4% blame. Though I think I got hornswaggled and I’m not sure why. I’m not even sure I know what hornswaggled means or if it’s a word. But I digress…….

In March I was assigned to a new team. I was told that it was to make the teams more “even”. Ok, I get that. But now I wonder if I was sent to the Kavorkian of team leads. This chick had it in for me from day one. I’d been with the company almost a year. My metrics were consistently OVER the target…. until her.

My metrics went down because she was giving me bad information and then changing that information later when I’d question it. She must have had a stick up her butt against me for some reason and was listening to every single call I’d make. On our weekly “coaching calls” she’d state this and that was wrong. Finally I asked her to produce the calls in question. She sent me an email with about 8 calls. EIGHT???? I take approximately 300 calls a week as part-time. So that works out to about 2.4% of the calls had an error.

That’s a HUGE amount of errors if you’re taking orders. Error percentage should be 0 in that case. However, I didn’t take orders. I didn’t help with customer service. I didn’t touch any money. All I did was transfer someone to someone else. All of those were perfect. The people that did not want to be transferred got put into other buckets…. “not interested”, “never requested info”, “do not call”. Basically, various trash cans for the info of people who did not want to be transferred. This is where I erred, according to her.

I listened to all of the calls she questioned and explained why I dispositioned them as I did. One of the calls she said I didn’t ask if the customer had a few minutes…. and I did. The others were up for interpretation. I based my interpretation on the whole of the call, tone, attitude, etc. She never replied to my email even though company policy says replies must be within 24 hours.

Two days later her boss calls to inform me that the company is terminating me. I didn’t really like the job but I like a paycheck. So now I get to job hunt during a pandemic. I’ve got some irons in the fire. Hopefully something will pan out quickly. But, if you’re interested in making a donation, I could use the help.
