I learned a very long time ago that people can not read minds. I remember when it happened, vaguely. My ex-husband was not picking up on a *hint* that I gave him …. and kept giving. *knocks on his head* “Anyone home?”
So that’s when I decided that it’s best to tell people what it is that you want, or mean, or what it is that you’re thinking, instead of hoping they guess it. That didn’t start off so great due to the fact that I’m a very blunt person and I rarely ever sugar coat things so I had to learn tact. Those people who like blunt get along with me very well and vice versa.
I understand that people have dealt with liars, manipulators, and other various devious methods. Maybe they’ve even practiced some of that them self. But I don’t and I protect my reputation fiercely. So when my honor is brought into question, I try to clear up whatever misunderstanding leads them to question me by presenting facts. But when you won’t believe what the facts are telling you, why are we bothering to continue a friendship?
I had such a situation happen last night and it ended with a total destruction of the friendship that was building. It got down to sharing chat logs and real life schedules and I still wasn’t believed. I don’t throw out people. There’s always a chance to make things right and attempt to rebuild after an apology. Just realize you’re not starting at ground zero. You have to work yourself back up from MANY levels below ground zero.
I have very few close friends in SL and most of them I’ve known in SL (and RL) for over a decade. They are the cream of the crop, let me tell ya, and I love them dearly!
